Over the past 35 years the collection has grown to about 4,000 volumes, with the recent additions of about 1,000 volumes of rare books dating back to 1586. The library serves both as a research center for staff in the preservation and commercial branches of SSE and as a place for scholarly exploration of historic agricultural methods, foodways, and vegetable-fruit-herb-flower varieties. The library also houses the institutional archive, including all Seed Savers Exchange publications and eventually all provenance records related to the heirloom seed collection held by the organization. I received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Librarianship in 1995; the Eastern New York Chapter of ACRL's Librarian of the Year award in 1997; and in 2003 was promoted to SUNY Distinguished Librarian, the highest rank in the SUNY system.

I retired in 2006. We moved to Cincinnati a year later after my husband's retirement from the University of Tennessee. I retired from PSUC in 2005, although my last year of teaching was 2010. I have been doing workshops: "Teaching as Performance," addresses the performance aspects of classroom teaching; and "Presentation Skills," which helps librarians who need to make presentations to boards, departments, etc. Both have received very positive feedback; if interested, contact me at my home address.

I authored numerous editions of a textbook used at the college level both here and abroad. There were various titles, the most recent of which is Information Literacy and Technology, Fourth Edition (2008).

Hired at the Senior Assistant Librarian rank in 1981, I was promoted to Associate Librarian in 1987 and to Librarian in 1995. I received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Librarianship in 1995; the Eastern New York Chapter of ACRL's Librarian of the Year award in 1997; and in 2003 was promoted to SUNY Distinguished Librarian, the highest rank in the SUNY system.

Andy Stewart (’87) will retire from his position as Library Director, Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla, MO (formerly known as University of Missouri – Rolla) in August, 2012. Beginning as a brand-spanking new reference librarian in June 1987, Andy’s entire professional library career was spent at Missouri S&T in Rolla—punctuated by a 15-month absence to Iraq in 2004-05 as a deployed U. S. Army Reserve soldier. He and Fayette, his wife of 35 years, will (probably) remain in Rolla (but hope to visit grandchildren, along with other travel whenever possible) in retirement.
